Sierra Leone has three Provinces - Northern, Southern and Eastern - and the Western Area, which comprises Freetown and the surrounding area. The Provinces are comprised of 12 Districts which in turn are comprised of 149 Chiefdoms.

The National Anthem and National Pledge
The words to Sierra Leone's National Anthem were written by John Akar, who was the first Sierra Leonean Director of Broadcasting (1960) and the founder of the National Dance Troupe. He later served as Ambassador to the United States.
