4. PEOPLES NATIONAL CONVENTION - PNC
5. PEOPLES PROGRESSIVE PARTY - PPP
6. UNITED NATIONAL PEOPLES PARTY - UNPP
FOLLOWING the meeting held by the above-named political parties on Sunday, 6th August 2000;
CONSCIOUS of the dire need for peace, security, national cohesion and addressing the welfare of the people;
NOTING the seriousness of the current socio-economic and political situation in the country and its implication on the general welfare of the people;
RECOGNISING the desirability of promoting the principles of good governance;
APPRECIATING the strong desire of supporters of the above-named political parties to come together in pursuance of their socio-economic and political objectives that will best serve the national interest,
WE, the members of the above-named political parties,
AGREE:

To unite under a single political party in due course,

To be known as the "GRAND ALLIANCE" for the time being,

To form a committee to work out the modalities for the actualisation of the above objective, and
-
To accept other political parties and individuals of like minds who may wish to accede to this Memorandum of Understanding.
